History Of The Baraneskanda Viharaya Pilapitiya Kelaniya

There was an old assistant BO-Tree which has donated from Kelani Rajamaha Viharaya to Pilapitiya village on 1940's.So this Bo-tree  was planted next to the Tamil temple which was on the small mountain in Pilapitiya area.This Tamil temple (Dewalaya) had dedicated for god Sri Kandakumarr.

' Baraneth' is another name for God Sri Skandakumarr          

Finally this chemistry of  Baraneth & Small mountain has created a temple of "Baraneskanda Viharaya" around 1930.

• On 16th of Aug 1975 two Bikkhu students by the name of Kahatavilawatte Palitha and Nelumdeniye Siriwimala thero's have overtake this temple and developed it from a hard way until this moment.
